PUBG back in India as PUBG MOBILE INDIA: New game, launch date, India servers and other key details

HIGHLIGHTS

  • PUBG Corporation will soon launch PUBG Mobile India game in India.
  • It will be a Indianised version of the PUBG Mobile that was banned recently.
  • PUBG Mobile India will bring several India-specific features and options.

PUBG Mobile will make a comeback to India as PUBG Mobile India soon. PUBG Corporation, the South Korean company that owns the PUBG and PUBG Mobile titles, has announced it will relaunch its game in India soon and with a lot of changes that have been made keeping India in mind. The announcement on the re-entry of PUBG Mobile India comes only a few weeks after PUBG Mobile, which belonged to China’s Tencent Games, was banned in India over security reasons but it was made finally unavailable only after the servers were shut.

The new PUBG Mobile India is a tweaked version of PUBG Mobile that is otherwise available in several countries. These tweakings are essentially the changes that highlight that the game is aesthetically more Indian than ever and that it tries to quell all the concerns at large. These concerns are from the Indian government, Indian parents, and medical experts who have unanimously criticised PUBG Mobile and its influence on Indian players. PUBG Corporation is addressing all of them with PUBG Mobile India. The company is also erecting a new Indian subsidiary that will hire over 100 employees to look after the operations of PUBG Mobile India.

We are breaking down what the arrival of PUBG Mobile India means for you and how it will be different from the banned version in five points.

PUBG Mobile India has been designed entirely to suit the needs of Indian consumers. This means that there are visual as well as behavioural changes that PUBG Mobile has undergone in the new version. There will be three major changes that will make the PUBG Mobile India different from the PUBG Mobile: characters will be fully clothed all the time when the match starts, a new simulation training ground that will be familiar, and time restrictions on gameplay to improve players' habits.

PUBG Mobile India will be allowed on both Google Play and Apple App Store as soon as it launches, so there will be no need for you to sideload the game using an APK or other means. The servers for this game will be available in compliance with the Indian government’s directives, which is why VPN connections will not be necessary. I think using a VPN might result in getting you banned in the game or the game simply will not work, but this is something that PUBG Corporation will clarify later when the game officially gets released. The launch date is expected to be announced soon.

PUBG Corporation has tied up with Microsoft to store user data on Azure Cloud. Azure Cloud data centres are located in India, which means that the data of PUBG Mobile India users is unlikely to leave the country borders. This move also fulfils the government’s data localisation policy that requires companies to store data of Indian users locally. The previously available PUBG Mobile would store data on Tencent Cloud servers located in China.

PUBG Corporation will invest $100 million into the India subsidiary and other projects to ensure the esports, entertainment, and IT industries of India get a boost from the company. How this investment will materialise is something that is not immediately clear but PUBG Corporation will be more focused on giving India’s gaming market a significant and necessary facelift, which might encompass a boost to local developers.

PUBG Corporation has announced it will organise esports tournaments and events that will grow the gamer community in India while making sure these game categories thrive in the market. The company will dole out large prize pools and other benefits that will benefit gamers at large
